RoYgBv Privacy Policy
Effective October 2, 2026
RoYgBv doesn't ask for your name, email or an account, and it has no ads or analytics. The only thing it sends to its own server is your Daily challenge scores, with an ID for your device, so the Daily leaderboard can show your best score and rank.
RoYgBv is made by Ethan Gottlieb ("I" and "me" below). This policy covers the RoYgBv app for iPhone, iPad and Android, version 4.1 and later.
The Daily leaderboard
When you finish a Daily challenge or a Daily Speed, the game sends this to the Daily leaderboard, a server I run on Amazon Web Services:
- an ID for your device: on iPhone and iPad, Apple's identifier for apps from the same developer on that device; on Android, the device's Android ID for this app;
- which day's board you played, how many moves you took and how long you took;
- the name "Unnamed", the same for everyone.
I use this only to show the leaderboard: each board's best scores, and your own best and rank. Everyone who plays sees the best scores, with no names. The ID isn't linked to your name, email or any account, and I don't sell it, share it or use it for anything else. Scores are kept as part of the leaderboard. To have yours deleted, email me.
Game Center and Google Play Games
If you're signed in to Game Center (Apple) or Google Play Games (Google), the game reports how many levels you've completed, and your fastest Speed time for each board size, to their leaderboards. Apple and Google handle that under their own privacy policies: Apple, Google.
Purchases
RoYgBv Pro and hints are bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handles the payment; the game only receives confirmation of what you bought, and never sees your payment details.
Ratings
The game may show the App Store's or Google Play's own rating dialog. Your rating or review goes to Apple or Google, not to the game.
Daily streak reminder
If you allow notifications, the game can remind you on the evening your Daily streak would end. The reminder is scheduled on your device. No server is involved, and nothing about it leaves your device. You can turn it off in the game's Settings or in your device's settings.
On your device
Your progress, settings, purchases and hints are saved on your device, not on my server. Deleting the app deletes them, apart from purchases, which you can restore from the store.
Shared puzzles
Puzzles you share from the level editor are links to a web page hosted on GitHub Pages. The puzzle is written into the link itself, and the page doesn't send it anywhere. GitHub, which hosts the page, may keep standard web server logs.
Contact Support
Contact Support in Settings opens an email to me with the app's name and version. What you write, and your email address, reach me only if you send it, and I use them only to reply.
Children
RoYgBv is suitable for all ages. It doesn't ask anyone for personal information. The only identifier it sends is the device ID above, used only for the Daily leaderboard.
Changes
If the game starts collecting anything else, I'll update this page and its effective date first.
